Crash Kills One In Bonneville County

One person is dead and two more are in critical condition after a two car accident on Wednesday.

The accident happened at 97 South and First East in Bonneville County. According to a police investigation, a Chevy pickup was driving west on 97 West and a Ford Taurus was driving north on First East when the two cars collided at the intersection.

The driver of the Chevy pickup, Onofre Ponce-Franco, 42, of Idaho Falls, was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he later died, police said.

The passenger in the pickup, Francisco Rodriguez, 39, of Blackfoot, was also taken to EIRMC, police said. He was later released.

Leila Bendixsen, 89, of Shelley was driving the Taurus, police said. She was also taken to EIRMC for her injuries. There is no word on her status.

Police said they are continuing to investigate.
