Pocatello Woman Pleads Guilty To First-Degree Kidnapping

Stephanie Christensen, one of four suspects accused of beating a local woman and leaving her for dead in the bottoms area of Fort Hall on April 13, 2011, pleaded guilty to two of the four charges against her on Monday.

Christensen pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping and principle to attempted first-degree murder as part of plea agreement through which she will have to testify in the trials of the other three suspects should those proceedings occur.

The Bannock County prosecutors dismissed the attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder charges.

The state has recommended a 10-year fixed sentence plus 15 years of indeterminate, meaning Christensen could apply for parole after serving 10 years.

Christensen’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 3.
