Clark Co. Searching For Missing Sheep Herder

The search for an overdue sheep herder continued Thursday in the Irving Creek area.

Tom Nick, 67, who has herded sheep in the Irving Creek drainage for many years, still has not been found. Nick was last seen on Sunday. He was supposed to meet with the owner of the sheep on Tuesday.

When the sheep owner arrived, he found Nick?s horse running loose with a halter rope on, no saddle and all of Nick?s dogs were at camp.

Nick had last spoken with his girlfriend at 9 p.m. from the top of Irving Creek, which is extremely steep and rugged terrain and advised her that he was on top of a large mountain. Then again at 9:30 p.m. Nick once again called her to say he was down off the roughest part and was going to let his horse. Nick was supposed to call her on Monday morning to confirm he had made it down safe, but hasn?t been heard of since.

The Clark County Sheriff?s Office and Sheriff?s Search and Rescue along with a few volunteers and friends searched and combed the area with horseback, motorcycles, and ATVs. Deseret Air Ag also flew the entire day with two planes. So far, they have not been able to find the saddle nor Nick.
