Some 116th Members Back In U.S. After Deployment

After nine months in Iraq, the first wave of Idaho soldiers of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team arrived back in the United States on Sunday.

About 300 soldiers from Idaho, Montana and Oregon flew in a chartered plane from Kuwait to Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Washington.

Each soldier is expected to go through out-processing at the base for about 10 days before being released from active duty and returning home to Idaho.

During the out-processing, soldiers will participate in post-deployment health assessments, weapons and equipment turn in, personnel and medical record reviews and more.

The 116th includes about 2,700 soldiers from the region.
