Brush Fire Contained Near Jackson School

A brush fire in Jackson which was threatening a school and forced the evacuation of some students and faculty on Wednesday had been contained, Teton County, Wyoming spokeswoman Charlotte Reynolds said.

The fire was burning above the Teton Science Schools along Highway 22 and Coyote Canyon Road. Students had already been dismissed for the day when the faculty and other students were told to leave.

The fire is mostly burning sage and has crested over the butte. It started just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Reynolds said it was burning more than 100 acres Wednesday night.

Several other fires are being reported in the Jackson area. Most are small fires, the largest is the Red Rock Fire which has been burning for more than a week. It is now 6,912 acres in size.
