Man Charged In 2007 High School Arson Case

A southwest Idaho man has been charged with felony arson for setting fire to his former high school in New Meadows that caused more than $1 million in damage four years ago.

Twenty-year-old Nicholas Priddy was formally charged with arson and burglary this week in an Adams County courtroom. He was freed on a $20,000 bond and ordered to appear next week for a preliminary hearing.

Investigators struggled to solve the case until June when Priddy’s estranged wife told police how her husband had repeatedly talked about his role in the 2009 Meadows Valley High School fire.

In court documents, investigators accused Priddy of breaking into the school and setting a fire in the band room. Flames and smoke also damaged the gym floor and weight room.
