Fugitive Caught In Idaho Falls

A burglary suspect is in police custody after an early morning chase in Idaho Falls.

Tanner Penrod, 24, was wanted in connection with a burglary that took place in Rexburg.

Lt. Joe Cawley of the Idaho Falls Police Department says Penrod was caught just before 1 a.m. Saturday after he tried to flee from police in his car.

Police used spikes on the road to pop the tires on Penrod’s car, but Cawley says Penrod continued to drive. He drove through at least one fence and into a canal before getting out of the car and attempting to run, police said.

Police arrested Penrod near the intersection of Woodruff and John Adams.

Penrod was also wanted by the U.S. Department of Corrections, but the nature of that warrant is unknown.
