Plant Moves From Pocatello To Idaho Falls

A manufacturing plant is closing it’s doors and moving away, but Pocatello’s loss will be Idaho Falls’ gain.

Community leaders have known for some time that Frazier Industrial was considering leaving, and they’ve been working to prevent that, but it seems those efforts weren’t succesful.

“So the economic development community here has been working with Frazier for about the last year, maybe longer, trying to find a suitable location. We knew they wanted to move from where they were, and basically we haven’t been succesfull in making that happen,? Pocatello Chamber of Commerce President Matt Hunter said.

The company and economic leaders in pocatello weren’t able to find the right fit in the gate city, so Frazier is leaving.

But they won’t be headed far. Frazier apparently found a location Idaho Falls.

The company is in the process of moving it’s operations from Bannock to Bonneville County.

“Luckily, they’re staying in our region. They’re staying in the state, which is very important. Those are good things. You never like losing anybody from your town,? Hunter said.

About 60 employees work at Frazier Industrial’s location in Pocatello.

Hunter said the silver lining is the new location might not be too far of a commute for employees with deep roots in the gate city.

“The nice thing is there are 60 employees, they’re not moving too far away, and those employees will be able to keep their jobs. Some might move to Idaho Falls, but they’re staying in our region, the jobs are staying in our region. That’s good,? Hunter said.
