Humane Society Recognizes Dog For Heroics

An Idaho Falls dog is being recognized by the U.S. Humane Society after she saved the life of her pregnant owner last September.

Codi Robertson, 15, had a seizure in the middle of the night. Her mom Debbie Dennings didn’t hear her, but the dog “Mickey” did.

The American Eskimo alerted Dennings, who called 911.

Doctors told the family both Robertson and baby Wyatt may not have survived if it weren’t for Mickey.

A Humane Society employee saw our story and nominated Mickey for the 5th annual Dogs of Valor award.

“I think it’s great. I think she deserves it,” said Dennings. “She saved my daughter’s life and she saved my grandson’s life.”

Mickey is being considered as a top ten finalist for the national contest.

The winner will be announced March 12.
