Organizers Already Preparing For Pocatello Rodeo

Organizers behind Pocatello’s rodeo said they’re already hard at work preparing for this year’s event.

“We’re full steam ahead. Everything is full bore. Tickets are on sale, and all of our people are gearing up, getting ready for a great show,? Pocatello Frontier Rodeo Chairman J.D. Johnston said.

The PFRA said Pocatello’s rodeo is something special, and the city has made a name for itself nationwide.

“When they hear the name Pocatello they know the rodeo is going to be great. They know they want to be here. It’s something that we’re very proud of, that we’ve built that reputation over the years,? Johnston said.

2011 was the first year Pocatello played host to the Western Frontier Pro Rodeo.

It was a big change from previous years and organizers say it was a success. But now the goal is to outdo last year.

“There’s always things to improve and we’re always looking for those things to improve,? Johnston said.

Those behind the event are looking for new talent and additions to the rodeo, including an entertainer or two they’re sure will be a big hit.

“There will be a lot of new acts that probably no one in this area has ever seen and keeps the crowd entertained and laughing nonstop,? Johnston said.

But the core of the rodeo, bucking broncos and bulls, mutton busting and other competitions, isn’t changing anytime soon.

Organzers said what makes the rodeo special year after year, is that it has something for everyone.

“Everything’s getting bigger and better and it’s true wholesome family entertainment. This is a thing you can bring your young kids and your grandmother to and everyone is going to have a good time, and there’s not many forms of entertainment where you can do that anymore,? Johnston said.

The Pocatello Frontier Rodeo is set for April 11-14.
