Police: Man Sneaks Into Idaho Falls Bedrooms

On Wednesday, police received several 911 calls reporting a suspicious person in west Idaho Falls. In one call, a woman, home alone with her baby at a house on Rendezvous, called 911 to report a man she said knocked on her front door, put his ear to the door and was acting generally suspicious. Police responded and got other reports of a man running through the neighborhood and hiding in backyards. Police detained Herndon and had him briefly in handcuffs. Police said he refused to voluntarily give police any fingerprints, and he was released due to a lack of evidence at the time.

Man Detained For Suspicious Behavior After Home Invasions

Herndon was arrested just after 1 a.m. Thursday following reports that he was acting suspicious in the neighborhoods of Rendezvous and Claredot.

We talked to a person in that neighborhood who called police after she said she found Herndon prowling around her house.

We?ll call her Tracy as she did not want to be identified by her real name. She said she had just hopped out of the shower when her daughter told her some disturbing news.

?My daughter told me she saw someone come in the front window,? Tracy said.

She put on some clothes and went to talk to the man.

She told him to step into the light so she could see his face. That?s when he took off into her backyard.

Officers combed the canal and alleyways with flashlights. They followed footprints, which led them to Herndon.

Herndon was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

?I keep my front door locked now,? Tracy said.
