Jordan Schools Placed On Lockdown After Threat

A threatening 911 call has prompted a temporary lockdown at Herriman and Riverton high schools in the Jordan School District.

Herriman city officials posted a message on the government’s Facebook page Wednesday telling parents all students are safe but would be arriving home a few minutes late. They said police are investigating.

KSL reports police had received a call about a potential threat involving a gun. An announcement at 1:42 p.m. told teachers and students to lock doors, turn off lights and cover windows. A second announcement at 2:14 p.m. told those inside to remain in “shelter in place” status.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports students at Riverton High would be let out first under police guidance.
