Ucon Elementary School Celebrates Successful Food Drive

Students at Ucon Elementary School enjoyed a sweet reward for their good deed.

Farr’s Candy teamed up with Western States to throw the entire student body an ice cream party.

All of this was to celebrate the 1,985 pounds of food the kids collected for the annual Dump Hunger campaign.

That’s more food than what was collected at five Albertson’s locations combined.

“Ucon is such a fantastic community. There is not an activity that we have that is not just overwhelmingly supported by the community,” said principal Brady Johnson. “So we put the call out to the kids, they went home to their parents and as always happens in Ucon, we had overwhelming support.”

The school does their own food drive each year, but this was their first year participating in Dump Hunger.

All of the food goes to the Idaho Food Bank.
