Residents Help Rigby Woman After Accident
Two good Samaritans helped turn a potentially life-threatening car crash into a minor accident Monday.
Rigby said say the near head-on accident happened at about 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of 4000 East and 300 North.
They say a 16-year-old girl was eastbound and turning left onto 4000 East and drove into the path of an oncoming car driven by Penny Kirouac. Witnesses said Kirouac was thrown half-out of the car and was apparently unresponsive.
Dustin Helm was travelling right behind the accident. He is credited with helping clear her from the crash. That’s when another passerby, Denise Murri, applied CPR and compressions for about 30 seconds until the driver recovered.
Ultimately, both drivers and a passenger in Kirouac’s car were transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released. Kirouac suffered a broken heel on her foot. Her husband, Jason Kirouac sustained a broken hand. The juvenile driver was treated and released.
A Rigby police Investigation into the crash is continuing.
