Teton County Posts Wyoming’s Highest Unemployment Rate
Wyoming’s April unemployment rate held steady at 5.3% while seasonally employment remained virtually unchanged from March.
While most county unemployment rates decreased last month, the exception was Teton County, where the unemployment rate rose from 6.6 percent in March to 11.2 percent in April, the highest in the state. Wyoming Research and Planning Chief Economist David Bullard says it is normal for Teton County’s jobless rate to increase in April because the month usually marks the end of the winter tourist season.
Lincoln County posted the state’s second highest unemployment rate at 8.5 percent. Wyoming’s lowest unemployment rate was posted in Sublette County at 3.4 percent followed by Campbell and Albany Counties at 4.1 percent.
