CASA volunteers build playhouses

CASA, or “Court Appointed Special Advocates,” volunteers began work Thursday on the Second Annual Parade of Playhouses.

Working with the Parade of Homes, 20 CASA volunteers came out to build the playhouses at BMC West on Holmes in Idaho Falls. The five playhouses will be displayed in the Idaho Falls Fourth of July Parade and then be raffled off during the Parade of Homes in September.

It’s one of the biggest fundraisers that CASA holds, and all the proceeds will go to help kids have a voice in the court system.

“Right now, it’s kind of like an old-fashioned barnraising,” said Bonneville Sheriff Paul Wilde, a CASA board member. “(The volunteers) are just having a great time.”

Wilde said it is to fundraise for a good cause, as

“We’re just really excited to give back to the community,” said Austin Chrystal, president of the Eastern Idaho Homebuilders Association, which is helping build the playhouses.

For raffle tickets, contact CASA at (208) 523-6525 or head to its website, www.casa7.org.
