Police: Man caught after robbery despite efforts to conceal identity

A 28-year-old Pocatello man is in custody on robbery charges. Pocatello police say Jason Robert Lee entered the Tee Box convenience store at 3555 Bannock Highway at 10:39 pm Tuesday.

Lt. Paul Manning said Lee indicated to the store clerk that he had some sort of weapon. He then held up a recording device with a pre-recorded message announcing the hold-up.

Despite the suspect’s efforts to conceal his identity, the clerk told police she recognized the thief. Police dispatchers used that name to track down Lee. He was found at a residence in the 2100 block of Marigold along with evidence connecting him to the robbery. Detectives used a search warrant to obtain additional evidence in Lee’s room at the house.

Manning said Lee is an ex-convict with a long list of previous convictions and criminal charges.
