Fire in Swan Valley completely contained
A wildfire near in Swan Valley that was threatening homes Tuesday is 100 percent contained.
The fire, now known as the Killian Fire, was burning on a ridge about half a mile west of South Fork Outfitters in Swan Valley and was quickly ascending the hill.
Although an earlier estimate gave the fire’s size as 50 acres, fire officials said at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday that the fire was estimated to be at 5 acres. The blaze originated on private land, then spread to public land. Favorable weather conditions, such as low winds and rain, prevented the fire from spreading farther.
There is no word yet on the cause.
Two Bureau of Land Management engines, two Forest Service engines, one air attack two single-engine air tankers, three Swan Valley Fire Department engines, one Bonneville County engine, and on Ririe Fire engine were on the scene.
