Body of missing jet skier found in Gem Lake

Rescue crews have pulled the body of a 59-year-old man from Gem Lake, Bonneville County Sheriff Paul Wilde said.

A woman and Kelly Clay were riding jet skis around the lake when they both fell off, according to Bonneville County Lieutenant James Foster. Clay was piloting the jet ski, according to police. A nearby boat circled around to see if the two needed help, but only found the woman, Foster said.

Clay’s body was found in the south portion of Gem Lake, south of 65th and near the hydroelectricity plant.

Foster said they are working under the assumption Clay was not wearing a life jacket. The woman was wearing one.

A dive team arrived on scene around6 p.m. Bingham County arrived with its sonar technology at 8 p.m.

The 911 call was made at 5:56 p.m. Sunday.
