Woman apparently kills self at Pocatello prison
An inmate has apparently committed suicide at the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center.
On Sunday at about 4:30 p.m., a correctional officer found Cindy R. Jones, 51, hanging in the shower area, according to a news release.
Paramedics were called, but were unable to resuscitate Jones.
She was sentenced in 1994 to two to 20 years in prison for second-degree kidnapping, aggravated assault and illegal possession of a weapon. Jones was scheduled to be released in July 2018.
The Idaho Department of Correction has asked the Idaho State Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding Jones’ death.
