Health district warns of possible hepatitis exposure in Pocatello

The Southeastern Idaho Public Health District is warning about a possible Hepatitis A exposure at a Pocatello restaurant. Customers who ate at Tom’s Gyro at 150 N. Third Ave. may have been exposed to Hepatitis A between Aug. 2 and 14.

The district said an employee there had the disease. At the present time, there is no evidence an outbreak can be associated with the restaurant, but health officials are recommending that if you ate there during that time, you should get a Hepatitis A vaccination if you have not had one already. Call the health district at (208) 234-5888 for more details.

The health district said Tom’s Gyro has cooperated fully with the investigation, and the employee was believed to have practiced good hand hygiene. A Tom’s Gyro representative said the restaurant is taking appropriate measures to fix the issue.
