Wyoming unemployment up one tenth percent

Wyoming’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased one tenth of a percent in August to 5.6 percent. Department of Workforce Services Senior Economist David Bullard called the increase statistically insignificant.

August was the third consecutive month that Wyoming’s unemployment rate increased, but it is marginally lower than its year-ago level of six percent.

Most county jobless rates followed normal seasonal patterns and fell slightly. Large unemployment rate decreases were seen in Lincoln County (from 7.1 percent in July to 6.4 percent in August),but it was still the second highest unemployment rate in the state. Sublette County posted Wyoming’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.5 percent, followed by Teton County at 4.1 percent.
