FBI: 2 abductions not related

The child abductions in Cody, Wyo., and Westminster, Colo., are not related, the FBI said Thursday.

Police in Cody found the 11-year-old girl wandering alone down a rural road hours after she was reported missing Monday.

Authorities said she was sexually assaulted after a man lured her into his vehicle by asking for help in finding his missing puppy. They said the man had a pistol, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The FBI said Thursday that the man may be living out of the vehicle, which is possibly an SUV. It has gray leather-type front seats. The back seat and luggage area were set up with bedding type materials.

He is described as white, about 55 to 60 years old, 6 feet tall, 185 to 200 pounds, with short strawberry blond or white hair, and well-trimmed facial hair. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt, blue jeans and a tan baseball cap.

Anyone having information on this case is asked to contact the Cody Police Department at(307) 527-8700, or the FBI national tip line at (800) CALL-FBI, or (800) 225-5324). The FBI is asking anyone who may observe this person or his vehicle to contact law enforcement immediately and not to approach him.

In the Colorado case, Jessica Ridgeway, 10, has been missing since last week. On Thursday, CNN reported that a body was found in a park in Arvada, Colo., about six miles from Jessica’s home, but investigators had not identified the body. They may hold a news conference Friday to give more details on that case.
