Shelley 2nd Grader Honored As A Hero

A second grader in Shelley is being honored as a hometown hero for her bravery in a life-threatening situation.

Paramedics said 7-year-old Rozzlyn Cazier saved her mother’s life in early October after she was trampled by a horse.

“I said a little prayer to help me, and I wasn’t that scared,” said Rozzlyn.

Rozzy’s mom, Amber, a horse trainer, was kicked in the head while working with some horses last month. Rozzy found her mom lying on the ground in the arena, unresponsive.

“I was crying a little bit and I was trying to find her cell phone and then I found it right by the fence in the arena,” said Rozzlyn.

Once she got a hold of the phone, Rozzy immediately dialed 911 and helped dispatchers direct paramedics to her location.

“I think that is so strong and so amazing of her to have thought through that … through this is a really scary thing and mom is scaring me because she’s not moving,” said Amber.

Paramedics found Amber severely injured with fractures to her skull and ribs and contusions all over her body.

“She saved her mother’s life. There’s no doubt she wouldn’t have made it without Rozzlyn’s cool, calm and collected way she did it,” said Mike Carter, Shelly Fire Chief.

“I know that she had some angels there with her and that really helps me and I know it helps her too and she helped me through this,” said Amber.

As far as being called a hometown hero? Rozzy said it’s a pretty big title.

“It’s good,” said Rozzlyn. “I’m a little shy.”

Amber is on the road to recovery, thanks to Rozzlyn. It could be months before she can get back on a horse though, due to the injuries from that incident.

Rozzlyn was awarded with a hero’s plaque, a gift card to her favorite restaurant, Red Robin, and a stuffed animal.
