Update on eastern Idaho elections, 8:30 p.m.

A flow of ballot boxes are now starting to arrive at the Bonneville County Clerks Office, where Jamie Ostroff has been reporting from all night. She says election officials had to call in some more help.

Although other counties are running smoothly so far this evening, Madison County ran into a hiccup.

Two precincts, Archer-Lyman and Plano, ran very low on ballots.

Madison County Clerk Kim Muir said turnout at the polls was overwhelming and far more than originally expected. At 7:20 p.m., the county started printing more ballots and voting continued.

Jake Taylor is reporting from the Democratic Headquarters in Bannock County, where the atmosphere remains optimistic. About 20 people had been manning a phone bank making about 5,000 calls an hour encouraging people to vote. John Perry Man, the local party’s field director, said volunteers were there since the “crack of dawn.” He added they are hoping for good results for the Democrats.

The party will move to the Bridge Restaurant in Pocatello.

Caleb James reporting live in Bonneville County spoke with Idaho State Sen. Dean Mortimer of District 32, who said his party was optimistic for the passage of education Propositions 1, 2 and 3.
