Woman dies after highway crash

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has released information on a deadly crash that occurred the morning of Oct. 25 south of Jackson.

Justine Bruteig, 79, of Kelly, was driving a 2001 Ford F150 pickup southbound on U.S. Highway 191. The roadway 19 miles south of Jackson was covered in snow and ice, and it was snowing.
Bruteig lost control of her vehicle, crossed the northbound lane of travel, overcorrected to the right crossing the southbound lane of travel and left the roadway on the west side in a passenger side leading slide.

The pickup then rolled three complete times down a steep embankment before coming to rest on its wheels in the Hoback River. Bruteig had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was first transported by ground ambulance to St. John’s Hospital in Jackson and later transferred by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

She died Monday.
