Man leads police in car, foot chase
A short chase and foot pursuit landed a Pocatello man in jail Sunday morning.
Pocatello Police Lt. Paul Manning said officers were investigating an unrelated domestic disturbance in the area of 600 West Lander when a car driven by Robert Wade Pointer, 18, came down the alley and nearly struck an officer around 5 a.m.
He said the driver made a U-turn in a reckless manner and led police on a chase before jumping from the car and attempting to run away on foot. Pointer was arrested after a short pursuit near the intersection of Buchanan and West Wyeth streets.
Pointer was arrested on felony charges of fleeing and eluding officers and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was also booked on charges of failing to purchase a driver’s license, resisting arrest and driving under the influence.
