Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue wins public safety grant
Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue will use a grant to provide supplemental training in emergency medical response, wilderness medicine, and avalanche response.
The volunteer group received $13 thousand from the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Public Safety and Security Institute.
Medical Officer Aleisha Circle said, “it increases the number of licensed emergency responders on our team to handle the types of medical emergencies we receive as well as provide the knowledge for when getting someone to the ambulance or definitive care is delayed due to distance or weather.”
She said the grant would help certify Search and Rescue team members as instructors in avalanche response, CPR, and medical instruction. That will allow them to also offer training to the general public at little or no cost.
