Police arrest man they say was smashing vehicle with lug wrench

Idaho Falls police have collared a man they said caused $1,900 in damage to a vehicle after he was a day on the run.Javier Mendoza Jr., 22, was arrested on a charge of malicious injury to property.

Police said witnesses saw Mendoza smashing a vehicle’s windows with a lug wrench and what appeared to be a beer bottle Tuesday. Damage to the car included broken windows, body damage, and damage to the interior.

Police located Mendoza on Wednesday evening, and he was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
