Ellen grants Rigby boy’s wish
It started with a simple idea — make a little boy’s wish come true.
Just weeks after we introduced you to 7-year-old Tayt Andersen of Rigby, who’s waiting for a heart transplant, he got the surprise of a lifetime. Here’s how his “girlfriend” found a perfect way to share her love.
” Hi, Tayt. It’s your girlfriend, Ellen,” said talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Those six words left Tayt and his mother, Chrissy, speechless.
“We were in shock,” said Chrissy.
Mother and son thought they were on the Skype with a producer of the “Ellen” show.
“Surprise!” said Ellen.
” The next thing we know, we’re Skyping with Ellen,” said Chrissy.
Local News 8 met Tayt just before Christmas, when he made his very first wish: to take his girlfriend on a date to Disneyland.
“I like Ellen!” said Tayt.
Thanks to social media, our story went from eastern Idaho all the way to California
“They’re going to send you to Disneyland, we’re going to meet and we’re going to dance,” said Ellen.
Tayt’s busy practicing his dance moves for his girlfriend. His mom is still finding the words.
“We’re just so overwhelmed by the love our family received right now,” said Chrissy. “I’m so overwhelmed by how many complete strangers love my little boy.”
She wanted to thank everyone, near and far.
“I just want to thank everyone that posted Tayt’s story. We love you and thank you. And thanks to Ellen!”
They’re leaving for Disneyland next week.
“I know that no matter what happens, now in the future with Tayt, that we’ve done his wish, he gets his wish, the one thing he asked for,” said Chrissy.
Chrissy said all the money already donated will help with expenses for the trip and his condition.
“Tayt, you’re my only boyfriend,” Ellen said to Tayt when she told him the good news.
“I love you,” said Tayt.
