Pocatello man charged with stealing public assistance

After two years of allegedly using someone else’s EBT card, a 51-year-old Pocatello man is now in custody in the Bannock County Jail.

Pocatello police said Lorenzo Pena Lucio was arrested after they determined he had used the card to obtain approximately $11,000 in welfare assistance over a two-year period. Lucio was formally charged with fraudulent procurement of public assistance.

An EBT, or Electronic Benefit Transfer card, replaces paper food stamps, checks, and other benefits.
