Rexburg council considers TRPTA funding

Targhee Regional Public Transportation Authority is asking Rexburg to fund a $60,608 shortfall in matching funds that would allow the regional bus service to establish a fixed route service in the upper valley.

TRPTA would like to initiate the service April 1st. The fixed route would also include service outside Rexburg to communities in Fremont and Jefferson Counties.

According to City Clerk Blair Kay, the Rexburg City Council tabled the request pending further work sessions with TRPTA. He said the city might consider participating if other partners are drawn into the agreement, including BYU Idaho and outlying communities that might benefit from the fixed route service.
