Ellen has surprise for Rigby boy and his mom

Seven-year-old Tayt Andersen of Rigby is still waiting for a heart transplant, but the wait to meet his “girlfriend” is finally over.

Tayt made another appearance on “The Ellen Show” Tuesday, this time in person.

In typical Ellen fashion, the day had one more surprise.

“I can finally meet my boyfriend,” said Ellen DeGeneres.

Ellen has been waiting a few weeks to meet him.

But Tayt has spent nearly every day of the last seven years watching and waiting.

After Ellen watched Local News 8’s story on Tayt, the feeling became mutual.

Ellen granted Tayt’s wish to go to Disneyland and meet her in person.

Tayt received some star treatment of his own.

“He was pretty famous at Disneyland,” said Chrissy Andersen, Tayt’s mom. “Everywhere we went, people were like, ‘You’re Ellen’s boyfriend!'”

Tayt even got to spend some time flying the plane to California.

“I didn’t know you knew how to fly an airplane,” said Ellen. “You could’ve come out here sooner.”

Then came one more surprise.

“They (Shutterfly) want to help with the medical expenses, so they’re giving you this check for $10,000,” said Ellen.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the audience.

“When you live back and forth out of your car going to the hospital, every penny you earn goes to that,” said Chrissy. “When you get something like this, you’re overwhelmed with this relief of ‘Oh, we’ll be okay.'”

From sunshine in the Magic Kingdom to the magic on Ellen’s show, “No matter what happens, we know that Ellen granted him his wish,” said Chrissy.

Tayt’s journey is far from over, he still needs a new heart. He was denied a transplant a few weeks ago so he is still waiting.
