Gov. Little reflects year of Idaho’s pandemic fight

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - A year ago Thursday, the World Health Organization informed the nation we were in a pandemic.

Governor Brad Little discussed the anniversary of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Idaho and toured the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic in Pocatello Thursday.

"Some of the things we need to do, some of these other states can’t do. Idahoans are showing up for their vaccinations and in other places that isn’t the case,” he said.

So far 284,000 people have been vaccinated across the state.

Health officials say Idaho is leading in its share of vaccine doses administered which means not many doses of the vaccine have been wasted which the governor says is a big success.

"It's almost impossible for me to fathom, we've 300 and something providers all over the state that we're not wasting any vaccine, which means at the end of the day if they have any vaccine left," he said. "I'm not speaking for them, but I would guess that they have a list of people that they can call to fill in the rest of the vaccine."

Now a year later, we also asked the governor if there is anything that he would do differently including his emergency declaration.

He says it's those executive actions that made vaccines and other COVID-19 remedies possible through federal funding.
