Police: Handgun found at scene of Pocatello woman’s death
Pocatello police said Monday morning that the autopsy of a woman who died in a shooting incident Sunday in Pocatello is complete and have confirmed the victim, 28-year-old Nettie Adair, was shot in the head.
Police said Tuesday that they did find a handgun at the scene. Preliminary analysis indicated it was a .38 caliber revolver.
But they said they will require additional testing to determine if any evidence can be obtained from the weapon.
Autopsy results are pending. So far, police said, none of the people they have talked to in connection to Adair’s death are considered a suspect.
“The autopsy results will be very important to the case and the additional interviews should help investigators determine the cause of death and if anyone was responsible or contributed in any way to the death of Nettie Adair,” Pocatello Police Department’s Lieutenant Paul Manningsaid in a news release.
Police continue to interview and re-interview people involved in the case. Manning said many items of evidence from the scene are being processed. He said the processing of that evidence could take several days, or even weeks.
No suspects or persons of interest have been identified.
Pocatello police responded early Sunday morning to calls of an unconscious woman who was bleeding from the head outside her home.
Officials said the call came just before 4 a.m.
Police said Adair was rushed from the home at 544 Jefferson Ave. to the hospital in serious condition where she later died.
Police said there were two males at the home when the initial 911 call was made. So far, it is not known who made the call.
One of the victim’s close friends said she told him that about a week ago two armed men approached her home saying they wanted to beat up her boyfriend for unknown reasons.
Friends also mentioned the victim has a 5-year-old daughter whose whereabouts are unknown at the moment.
