Rexburg named a safe city
An Internet company that conducts risk analysis for corporate users has named the city of Rexburg the 12th safest city in the U.S., and the police department will get a digital prize for its efforts.
Location Inc., which operates the “Neighborhood Scout” website, said the designation came as the result of its research into the total number of crimes reported to the FBI in a given year and the population of each city. The rating is based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents.
According to the company, Franklin, Mass., was the nation’s safest city. Rexburg finished just ahead of Glen Cove, N.Y. For a full list, see http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/neighborhoods/crime-rates/top100safest/.
As part of the recognition, the company will award the police a “digital award medallion.” In a letter to the Police Chief Shane Turman, the company said it would “drive awareness of your team’s excellent performance while promoting the desirability of Rexburg, Idaho, to Web and social media users all across America.”
