Poisoned meatballs found near Salmon

Idaho Department of Fish and Game and Bureau of Land Management officials have found 10 poisoned meatballs in the Badger Basin area near Salmon.

On Friday, the departments warned people to be careful in the area from Carmen Creek to Tower Creek, particularly if they are out horn hunting with their dogs.

“While we have been able to locate and remove 10 of the poisoned meatballs, we cannot verify that all have been removed,” said David Spain, BLM law enforcement officer. “We want people to be aware of the issue before they take any of their animals in the area.”

One pet dog was treated by a local vet after it ate poisoned bait. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Officials did not know what animals the meatballs were intended to poison.
