Changes at Noise Park

If you’re looking for something different to do this summer, look no further than Noise Park. New management of the park is helping to bring in bigger events that are fun for the whole family.

“We just don’t have enough healthy members to continue out there,” said Ron Gill, president of Idaho Falls Russet Lions Club.

After 40 years, the Russet Lions Club has decided to no longer lease Noise Park. Only 10 members exist in the club and most of them are ill.

But sometimes change can be for the better. High Desert Racing has been practicing and holding events at Noise Park since the late 1990s.

“It kind of gets in your blood and you can’t quit,” said Dustin Pancheri, motocross racer for High Desert Racing.

Dustin Pancheri and high desert racing have even dedicated their time and effort to fixing up the course.

“Last year we did a reconstruction of the track,” said Pancheri.

But that has caused Pancheri to sacrifice time he could be spending with his family.

So, with the Russet Lions backing out, Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department is stepping up to help take care of the course and promote events.

“We’re just so excited to revamp this course and to have the public to ride on this course,” said Greg Weitzel, director of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation.

The Parks and Recreations Department is opening the park for practice on Wednesdays and Saturdays for a small fee. In addition, groups such as High Desert Racing can rent the park for big racing events on the weekends.

“We’re trying to take it to the next level. We want to bring more spectators out, let people know that its out here and that there’s lots of family events. Just want to make it a well-known place,” said Weitzel.

So keep a look out for events at Noise Park this summer.
