Police: Man on meds steals from gun shop

Idaho Falls police said a man under the influence of medication stole $1,500 in items from a gun shop.

Officers were dispatched to Ross’ Coin and Gun, at 390 N. Eastern, around 11:40 a.m. Saturday in reference to Christian Maupin, 38, of Idaho Falls stealing from the store.

Stolen items included ammunition and a silencer mount.

During their investigation, police learned that Maupin had a concealed weapon permit. They said Monday that he was carrying a gun on his person while under the influence of medication that was making him drowsy.

He was arrested on charges of grand theft and carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated and was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
