2 killed in Idaho Falls plane crash

Two people were killed when a twin-engine plane crashed on International Way just minutes after taking off from Idaho Falls Regional Airport, according to Idaho Falls Police.

Police say the aircraft may have been experiencing mechanical difficulties and that the pilot was apparently circling back toward the airport when the plane crashed Saturday afternoon.

Officers say all three people on board were extricated from the wreckage. The only survivor was a 13-year-old boy. He was taken to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. The two other passengers who died in the crash were from Idaho Falls and Rexburg.

Witnesses say they heard the engine sputter just before coming to a crash in a vacant lot.
