Flash flooding near Challis

Custer County Road and Bridge equipment operators are working to reopen the Garden Creek Road west of Challis.

Sheriff Stuart Lumpkin said a micro-burst thunderstorm dropped heavy rain at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday that initiated a half mile mud slide on the road.

No one was injured, but the slide did move through at least one home in the area. An exact estimate of damage was unavailable until deputies can reach the area.
