Body recovered from Snake River

The body of a man who apparently tried to swim to Keefer’s Island before the fireworks show Thursday night has been recovered.

Officers said Lloyd N. Westbrook II, age 27, attempted to swim to the island at about 9:30 p.m. from the Shilo Inn area.

Westbrook’s body was located at about 1:10 a.m. Friday.

Dive crews searched the area near Keefer’s Island for about an hour, pushing the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration back to 11 p.m.

The search was suspended during the fireworks show.
