More downtown living may be in store for Idaho Falls

The Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation is focused on increasing downtown living.

Executive Director Bob Everhart said he constantly hears from people looking to live downtown.

“I get those calls three to four times a week,” said Everhart. “But we don’t have any place to talk to them about.”

Everhart said Idaho Falls has the locations and potential to create condos, apartments and lofts. He also says there is significant interest from young professionals and retirees looking to live more simply.

“What we need right now is some developers or investors that have the same vision that we do,” said Everhart.

The Downtown Development Corporation is in the early stages of their initiative, but the plan is coming together.

“I’ve got a couple of real estate developers that have actually looked at some property and done some architectural estimates on what costs might be,” said Everhart.
