Wyoming awards $1.6 million in oil and gas leases

A quarterly oil and gas lease auction generated $1.6 million in mineral leases for the state of Wyoming on Wednesday.

The auction by the Office of State Lands and Investments including 6971 acres from parcels in Big Horn, Campbell, Carbon, Converse, Crook, Fremont, Hot Springs, Johnson, Laramie, Lincoln, Natrona, Niobrara, Park, Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta, Washakie and Weston counties.

The funds are designated to support public schools and other state agencies.

The State Board of Land Commissioners, consisting of Wyoming’s five elected officials, manages state trust lands to preserve, protect, and optimize revenue.

The auction included 26 parcels in Lincoln County. 200 parcels were auctioned statewide.
