Fire burns near Lava
A fire was burning in the Lava area late Friday afternoon.
The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office said crews are responding to a fire on BLM land off Frandsen Road northwest of town.
People are being asked to avoid Old Oregon Trail Road to minimize traffic in the area.
An Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center spokesman said the fire was likely caused by lightning. It burned about 100 acres as of 5:30 p.m. Friday. Firefighters planned to battle the blaze with air support.
