Calif. man dies in I-86 crash
Idaho State Police have released the name of the man who died in a crash on Interstate 86 near American Falls on Wednesday.
Allen Fingold, 77, of Galt, Calif., was traveling eastbound on the interstate when he ran off the roadway onto the left shoulder. Fingold corrected and came back onto the road, then overcorrected, causing his vehicle to overturn.
After overturning, Fingold’s vehicle came back onto its wheels and continued going eastbound on the left shoulder. The out-of-control vehicle again went off the road onto the left shoulder, turning through the median. It then went back across both lanes of eastbound travel, all while continuing in a turning motion to the right. After circling around nearly 180 degrees, the vehicle again left the roadway on the left shoulder, going into the median, where it overturned a second time, coming to a rest on its top near the westbound lanes of travel in the median, police said.
Fingold died at the crash.
His passenger, Jeanette Fingold, 70, also of Galt, was transported to Harm’s Memorial Hospital in American Falls. ISP said both Allen and Jeanette Fingold were wearing their seat belts. Notifications have been made to the family.
All lanes of travel are open.
