2 arrested in stolen car with toddler

A man and a woman from Idaho Falls were arrested on grand theft and drug charges in a traffic stop.

Police said Monday that officers stopped a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Travis L. Peasley, 22, at the intersection of Gladstone and Higbee late Saturday morning. The vehicle was reported as stolen earlier that morning from Autos for Less on Anderson Street.

Officers determined Peasley and Jenesa L. Johnson, 22, were involved in the theft of the Suburban.

Police said Peasley tossed drugs out of the window when police were pulling him over.

In addition to grand theft, Peasley was also arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, petty theft, concealment of evidence, as well as an Idaho Falls warrant.

Johnson was also arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor injury to a child, as her 2-year-old was in the car.

They were booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
