Fire on site put out

A small fire that prompted an evacuation at the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project facility Friday was out around 8:45 p.m.

According to an Idaho National Laboratory news release, the fire was about 50 miles west of Idaho Falls. All employees were evacuated from building 676. Everyone was accounted for.

The INL said the fire presented no risk to the public and no risk of releasing radiation.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s AMWTP site is managed by the Idaho Treatment Group.

The INL said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
