AIDS Memorial Quilt in Idaho Falls

Part of the AIDS Memorial Quilt is on display in Idaho Falls.

The Eastern Idaho Public Health District and local nonprofit Breaking Boundaries are displaying a portion of the quilt, which is too large to display in one place. Twenty-nine of its 12-by-12-foot blocks are on display at the Elks Lodge in Idaho Falls through Saturday.

Three of those blocks are dedicated AIDS victims who lived or have family living in eastern Idaho.

“There’s 112 people in Eastern Idaho Public Health District that are considered to be still living with HIV and AIDS,” said Gary Rillema, the district’s director of family and community health.

You can see the display at the following times:

Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday from noon to 7 p.m.

In addition, there will also be a dedication of a new segment of the quilt Saturday at 5:30 p.m. followed by a concert at 7. Admission to the concert is $15.
