Buy Idaho pushes for local purchases

The Idaho state capitol rotunda hosted their annual Buy Idaho Trade Show Wednesday. Buy Idaho is a nonprofit organization that works to shine light on Idaho-based companies.The organization said a lot people don’t realize that the state manufactures a lot of made in the USA products.

Economists said when people buy from local businesses, it keeps dollars and job opportunities within that state. Because there’s no other snow like in Idaho, the snowmobile industry sets up shop all over the state. MotorFist General Manager, Dan Peterson said he could think of no better place to do business.

“It’s very difficult to manufacture in the states these days, but it’s a real competitive advantage to be from Idaho. In fact, the whole nation looks to the west to set a standard for the snowmobile industry,” he said.

Idaho ranked 11th in the country for manufacturing establishments in a 2011 census.
